A very a-moo-sing afternoon

Longley Farm has teamed up with Doctor Simpo to create an animation called 'Calamity Cow' which will premier at the Holmfirth Film Festival in May.

This must see moo-vie will feature sections animated by local schools and also the voices of local people.

On Friday 20th March, Friend to Friend and the foundation group from Kirklees College came together to lend their voices to this exciting project.

The afternoon began with some singing, led by Hot Banana Music's Louise Curtis, who regularly does singing workshops with Friend to Friend. The group sang songs accompanied by Louise on ukulele, including 'Whose cows are these?' a song which will feature in the moo-vie.

After a break for lunch, students from Kirklees College and the members of Friend to Friend had a go at voice acting, recording the script for the upcoming film, in which they will get to hear their own voices straight from the cow's mouth. The voice of Louise Curtis from Hot Banana Music will also feature in the film, as clumsy protagonist Calamity Cow.

Perhaps the most popular part of the afternoon, however, was when whoopee cushions were passed round to record the all-important cow pat sound effects! All recorded by talented local sound artist Napoleon IIIrd.

As well as premiering at the Film Festival in May, the story of Calamity will also be available as a story book, so watch this space...
